Going home to discover an OwlCrate Jr box awaits is almost a habitual thing for me to anticipate every month though I don't think I would ever get used to the thrill it brings hence the increasing rate of my enthusiasm. Having been an OwlCrate Jr rep for about two years or so, I can confidently admit that my excitement usually grows more intense in the last three months of the year meaning their themes in October, November, and December pique my ever-growing interest even more.
A box from one of the months mentioned arrived yesterday and I couldn't be happier to find it lurking in the darkness of my living room after a long day at work. Curating the theme "Epic Quests" for their October box this year, OwlCrate Jr once again proved that their chosen theme is always getting more and more epic and I can't phantom how grateful I am for the regular surprise.
Here are all the goodies I got:
- A Narnia-inspired map bandana designed by @erin_gibbs.
- A matching tin pencil case (with 6 drawing pencils) and sketchbook designed by @mkchibs.
- A Golden Compass-inspired water bottle designed by @janinelecour.
- An enamel pin with a quote from The Hobbit designed by @forensicsandflowers.
- Book of the month: The Barren Grounds by @davidrobertsonwriter which came with a letter from the author, a signed bookplate, and temporary tattoos of the characters.
- A monthly collectible sticker designed by @yesurrey.
I mistook the bandana for a scarf at first. But see, the material is so soft and the details are amazing that however it's utilized it would still be cool either way. Besides, anything Narnia-related will always cover me in some sort of magical vibes so I promise I will use this bandana to go on an adventure once the pandemic is over.
If Narnia leaves me in awe, The Hobbit always reminds me of a little adventure I once had with my sister and cousin a few years ago. If you're expecting something groundbreaking, I'm sorry to disappoint you: my first midnight movie experience in the cinema was The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and that's why I grew accustomed to the idea of Bilbo Baggins, magical, and childhood as a combined concept. The experience, albeit ordinary, means something to me.
